In the past week, we have had a total of 1.72 inches of rain, 1.56 of which came from April 17th's storm. Heavy winds, lightning, and rain were the main characteristics of that storm. The rain fell on powdery, dry soil with a few signs of early spring: bluebells and Dutchman's Breeches have foliage of less than 1" and some grasses are greening in yards and ditches. Expecting early mushrooms after rains.
The bird feeder species observed this week are: Bluejay; Chickadees; Jonchos; Nuthatches; Robins; Starlings; Downy Woodpecker, and, Piliated Woodpecker.
